What is ASIS?

ASIS International, with more than 34,000 members, is the largest international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security. In addition, corporate executives and other management personnel, as well as consultants, architects, attorneys, and federal, state, and local law enforcement, are becoming involved with ASIS to better understand the constant changes in security issues and solutions.

What does ASIS Stand For?

Founded in 1955 as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the organization officially changed its name in 2002 to ASIS International. This new name preserves our history while better reflecting the growth and expansion of the society to more than 34,000 members around the world covering a wide array of services and specialties within the security industry.

ASIS Certifications:

ASIS administers three certifications programs. The Certified Protection Professional (CPP™) designation indicates board certification in security management, and is recognized worldwide as the highest recognition accorded a security practitioner. Two technical certifications have been added recently: the Physical Security Professional (PSP™) and the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI™).
