March 2008

Well, another month has passed and we seem to be entering a very busy time of the year. On Saturday March 1st and Saturday March 8th our chapter held its CPP review and the attendance was very good. Approximately 15 chapter members were able to make the two day
review. Five or six of these individuals were new members, and it was great way to welcome them aboard.

I would like to express my gratitude to the instructors who donated their time and effort in putting together the presentations. I would also like to thank our Vice-chair Robin Brown CPP, PSP, PCI, for once again pulling off a successful review. I know a lot of certified members who owe Robin a big thank you for his help in obtaining their certification.

Remember that we will also have our annual Spring Seminar in May. We will be sending out updates as to the topic as information becomes available. Make sure to mark your calendar for May 2nd as the date set for the seminar. If you know of any training opportunities that may benefit the
chapter membership please let me know and I will get the information out to everyone. Training can be in any of the security disciplines such as IT, Physical Security, Investigations, etc. Training is the one area in which it is always difficult to find enough good programs We would like to offer you the opportunity to contribute to the Chapter Newsletter. If you want to write an article please let Mike Cooley know.

The Foundation for the Prevention of School Violence will be having their
annual School Symposium on April 18th at the Johnson & Wales University
campus. This will be the second year for the event and this year the attendance is expected to almost double. I attended last year and plan on attending this year. The 2007 event was very informative and everyone in attendance seemed to find it worthwhile. If you are interested in attending, you can go to their website at www.preventingschoolviolence.org and download the registration form. Attendance is limited and it tends to fill
up very quickly. So if you are interested register now. The registration fee is
$15.00 which does include lunch and all materials.

Sincerely,
Billy Hodge
